Installation and Removal Instructions
Dell Studio 1535 / 1536 / 1537 USB and Firewire IO Circuit Board

Unscrew the 7 retaining screws.

Step 1

  • Remove the battery.
  • Unscrew the 7 retaining screws.
  • Remove the access panel door.

Remove the (7) 2.5mm x 5mm screws on the bottom base assembly.

Step 2

  • Remove the screws under the battery.
  • Remove the (7) 2.5mm x 5mm screws on the bottom base assembly.
Remove the (7) 2.5mm x 5mm screws on the bottom base assembly. Remove the screws under the battery.
Turn the base assembly over and remove the optical drive screw.

Step 3

  • Turn the base assembly over and remove the optical drive screw.
Loosen the cables from the routing tabs.

Step 4

  • Turn over the laptop and disconnect the WIFI antenna cables.
  • Loosen the cables from the routing tabs.

Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm screws holding the hinges to the base.

Step 5

  • Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm screws holding the hinges to the base.
Carefully lift the Center Control Media Buttons Cover away form the base. You should start unsnapping it at the LCD display side being careful not to lift to fast so the cable doesn’t break.

Step 6

  • Open the laptop screen as wide as possible.
  • Carefully lift the Center Control Media Buttons Cover away form the base. You should start unsnapping it at the LCD display side being careful not to lift to fast so the cable doesn’t break.
Remove the Keyboard Trim Plastic. Start by lifting the plastic at the top corner and working your way around the keyboard.

Step 7

  • Leave the Center Control Media Buttons Cover loose.
  • Remove the Keyboard Trim Plastic. Start by lifting the plastic at the top corner and working your way around the keyboard.
Carefully lift the cable latch and unhook the cable.

Step 8

  • Unscrew the (2) 2mm x 3mm screws holding the keyboard to the base and gently flip the keyboard over. Be cautious, lifting the keyboard with the cable connected, it is possible to break the latch if you pull it too hard.
  • Carefully lift the cable latch and unhook the cable.
Carefully lift the cable latch and unhook the cable. Unscrew the (2) 2mm x 3mm screws holding the keyboard to the base and gently flip the keyboard over. Be cautious, lifting the keyboard with the cable connected, it is possible to break the latch if you pull it too hard.
Carefully lift the Center Control Media Buttons Cover cable latch and remove the Center Control Media Buttons Cover.

Step 9

  • Carefully lift the Center Control Media Buttons Cover cable latch and remove the Center Control Media Buttons Cover.
Pull the WIFI cables through the motherboard routing hole.

Step 10

  • Disconnect the LCD Cable, the Camera Cable, and the Power Button Cable.
  • Pull the WIFI cables through the motherboard routing hole.
  • Loosen all of the cables and remove them from there routing channels.
Pull the WIFI cables through the motherboard routing hole. Loosen all of the cables and remove them from there routing channels.Disconnect the LCD Cable, the Camera Cable, and the Power Button Cable.
Unscrew the right side 2.5mm x 5mm hinge screw.

Step 11

  • Unscrew the left side 2.5mm x 5mm hinge screw.
  • Unscrew the right side 2.5mm x 5mm hinge screw.
Unscrew the right side 2.5mm x 5mm hinge screw. Unscrew the left side 2.5mm x 5mm hinge screw.
Lift the LCD Display assembly off of the base.

Step 12

  • Lift the LCD Display assembly off of the base.
Remove the remaining (4) 2.5mm x 5mm screws.

Step 13

  • Remove the (3) 2mm x 3mm screws.
  • Remove the remaining (4) 2.5mm x 5mm screws.
Remove the remaining (4) 2.5mm x 5mm screws. Remove the (3) 2mm x 3mm screws.
Unplug the (3) palmrest cables.

Step 14

  • Unplug the (3) palmrest cables.
Lift the palmrest from the base assembly.

Step 15

  • Lift the palmrest from the base assembly.
Lift the USB and Firewire IO Circuit Board away from the base.

Step 16

  • Remove the 2.5mm x 5mm screw.
  • Lift the USB and Firewire IO Circuit Board away from the base.
**The top cable has a latch that pivots up and the bottom cable slides straight out the connector.

Step 17

  • Disconnect the 2 ribbon cables.
  • **The top cable has a latch that pivots up and the bottom cable slides straight out the connector.
