Installation and Removal Instructions
Dell Studio 1535 / 1536 / 1537 Power Button & Wifi Catcher Switch

Unscrew the 7 retaining screws.

Step 1

  • Remove the battery.
  • Unscrew the 7 retaining screws.
  • Remove the access panel door.

Remove the screws under the battery.

Step 2

  • Remove the screws under the battery.
Loosen the cables from the routing tabs.

Step 3

  • Disconnect the WIFI antenna cables.
  • Loosen the cables from the routing tabs.
Loosen the cables from the routing tabs. Disconnect the WIFI antenna cables.
Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm screws holding the hinges to the base.

Step 4

  • Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm screws holding the hinges to the base.
Carefully lift the Center Control Media Buttons Cover away form the base. You should start unsnapping it at the LCD display side being careful not to lift to fast so the cable doesn’t break.

Step 5

  • Open the laptop screen as wide as possible.
  • Carefully lift the Center Control Media Buttons Cover away form the base. You should start unsnapping it at the LCD display side being careful not to lift to fast so the cable doesn’t break.
Remove the Keyboard Trim Plastic. Start by lifting the plastic at the top corner and working your way around the keyboard.

Step 6

  • Leave the Center Control Media Buttons Cover loose.
  • Remove the Keyboard Trim Plastic. Start by lifting the plastic at the top corner and working your way around the keyboard.
Carefully lift the cable latch and unhook the cable.

Step 7

  • Unscrew the (2) 2mm x 3mm screws holding the keyboard to the base and gently flip the keyboard over. Be cautious, lifting the keyboard with the cable connected, it is possible to break the latch if you pull it too hard.
  • Carefully lift the cable latch and unhook the cable.
Carefully lift the cable latch and unhook the cable. Unscrew the (2) 2mm x 3mm screws holding the keyboard to the base and gently flip the keyboard over. Be cautious, lifting the keyboard with the cable connected, it is possible to break the latch if you pull it too hard.
Carefully lift the Center Control Media Buttons Cover cable latch and remove the Center Control Media Buttons Cover.

Step 8

  • Carefully lift the Center Control Media Buttons Cover cable latch and remove the Center Control Media Buttons Cover.
Pull the WIFI cables through the motherboard routing hole.

Step 9

  • Disconnect the LCD Cable, the Camera Cable, and the Power Button Cable.
  • Pull the WIFI cables through the motherboard routing hole.
  • Loosen all of the cables and remove them from there routing channels.
Pull the WIFI cables through the motherboard routing hole. Loosen all of the cables and remove them from there routing channels.Disconnect the LCD Cable, the Camera Cable, and the Power Button Cable.
Unscrew the right side 2.5mm x 5mm hinge screw.

Step 10

  • Unscrew the left side 2.5mm x 5mm hinge screw.
  • Unscrew the right side 2.5mm x 5mm hinge screw.
Unscrew the right side 2.5mm x 5mm hinge screw. Unscrew the left side 2.5mm x 5mm hinge screw.
Lift the LCD Display assembly off of the base.

Step 11

  • Lift the LCD Display assembly off of the base.
Unsnap the bezel from the back assembly starting on the camera side and working your way around the edges. The Bezel may be glued down to the screen so it may be difficult to remove.

Step 12

  • Unsnap the bezel from the back assembly starting on the camera side and working your way around the edges. The Bezel may be glued down to the screen so it may be difficult to remove.
Lift the bezel away from the display assembly.

Step 13

  • Lift the bezel away from the display assembly.
Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm screws on the bottom left and right of the screen.

Step 14

  • Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm screws on the top left and right of the screen.
  • Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm screws on the bottom left and right of the screen.
Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm screws on the bottom left and right of the screen.Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm screws on the top left and right of the screen.
Disconnect the camera cable.

Step 15

  • Disconnect the inverter cables.
  • Disconnect the camera cable.
Disconnect the camera cable.Disconnect the inverter cables.
Unscrew the (4) 2.5mm x 5mm hinge screws and remove the left and right hinges.

Step 16

  • Remove the LCD screen.
  • Unscrew the (4) 2.5mm x 5mm hinge screws and remove the left and right hinges.
Peel back the metal tape holding the power button and WiFi cable.

Step 17

  • Peel back the metal tape holding the power button and WiFi cable.
Unscrew the 2mm x 3mm screw holding the Wifi catcher circuit board.

Step 18

  • Unscrew the 2mm x 3mm screw holding the Wifi catcher circuit board.
Remove the power button / WiFi circuit boards and cable from the LCD back assembly.

Step 19

  • Unscrew the 2mm x 3mm screw holding the power button circuit board.
  • Remove the power button / WiFi circuit boards and cable from the LCD back assembly.
