You will first need to make sure your BIOS is updated to the latest revision and if that doesn’t work, you will need to re-seat the cable connections at the motherboard and the optical drive. If you are still having problems, it”s possible the replacement drive is defective.

HI, i was wondering if i bought this disk drive to replace my old broken one and i installed it my self, whould i need to download any new drivers or software?

If you are referring to an optical drive, they should be plug n play. If you are talking about a hard drive, you would have to reload the operating system, drivers, and any software you need.

Hi, on this laptop, is it possible to remove the optical drive and replace it with a caddy that will hold an SSD drive? Or place the SSD drive where the hard drive is, and move the hard drive to the optical drive caddy? Is there a caddy that will fit the dell?

You won’t be able to replace the optical drive with at SSD but, there is a SATA style SSD that will fit in the laptop perfectly.
