Dell Inspiron 6400 E1505 Palm Rest Touch Pad Assembly Removal and Installation

Removal – Dell Inspiron 6400 e1505 Palm Rest Touch Pad Assembly

1. Before starting read, Dell Laptop Service Precautions.
   
2. Remove the Battery.

3. Remove the Optical Drive.

4. On the bottom of the laptop remove the (13) 2.5mm x 8mm bottom base screws.

5. On the back of the laptop remove the (2) 2.5mm x 8mm Hinge screws.

6. Remove the Power Button Cover.

7. Remove the Keyboard.

8. Remove the LCD Display Assembly.

9. Loosen the palm rest captive screw. It is attached to the palm rest so you will not be able to fully remove it.

10. Unplug the touch pad cable and the stand by switch.

11. Carefully unsnap the palm rest from the laptop base.

Installation – Dell Inspiron 6400 e1505 Palm Rest Touch Pad Assembly

1. Place the palm rest onto the laptop base and snap in the edges.
2. Plug in the touch pad cable and the stand by switch.
3. Tighten down the captive screw.
4. Replace the LCD Display Assembly.

5. Replace the Keyboard.

6. Replace the Power Button Cover.

7. On the back of the laptop, replace the 2 hinge screws.
8. On the bottom of the laptop replace the 13 bottom base screws.
9. Replace the Optical Drive.

10. Replace the Battery.
