I had saved a small sum of money to purchase some computer parts and began selling them on eBay. After a few months I realized that people needed a place to go for Dell parts so I began building our website. The Nvidia Tegra K1 arrived to the scene with such high performance standards that it wooed crowds over Apple's A7 processor and Qualcomm' Snapdragon 800 processor almost immediately upon its CES arrival. The processor combines both ARM Cortex-A15 CPUs and a GPU similar to the successful Kepler graphics found in laptops and desktop computers. The current talk of the town is analyzing these early benchmark tests. Thanks to Tom's Hardware, answers are rolling in. To be more specific, the K1 has a minimum of a 25 percent lead over the current flagship chips. With standard 3DMark testing for GPU graphics and CPU physics, it proves to run a good lap around competitors.
What is everyone excited about the most? The fact that the K1 isn't simply a successor to the Tegra 4. There are especially noticeable differences in the K1's graphics-heavy work. The chip is allegedly capable of outdoing the last-gen, highest performing game consoles, the PS3 and Xbox 360. Not bad for a tablet chip! Important to note that when in user interface composition tests, the K1 scored much higher, however it lacked in GPU performance versus its Tegra 4 predecessor. In addition, power consumption statistics are still needed.
But its not just a gaming processor. Expect to see the Tegra K1 being the brains of next generation smartphones and tablets. Not only that, it will be used to bring a higher visual quality to automobile applications. Tony Tamasi, Nvidia's K1 designer says, "For graphics, depending on what you're doing, it would be three to six times the performance compared to Tegra 4". Rather that putting it into a class of machine, such as an ES3 or Kepler, Tamasi simple states "Its the K1". Now it is time to see the K1 chipset showing off its incredible graphics on a high-quality, mass-produced device. It is rumored that Microsoft may be high on the list of companies to take hold of the K1, as soon as production of the Surface 3 begins.
