Installation and Removal Instructions
Inspiron 14z (5423) LCD Cable

Eject the SD card blank.

Step 1

  • Eject the SD card blank.

Loosen the screw (cannot be removed).

Step 2

  • Loosen the screw (cannot be removed).
  • Remove the door.

Slide the optical drive out of the laptop.

Step 3

  • Slide the optical drive out of the laptop.
Separate the clips and remove the memory.

Step 4

  • Separate the clips and remove the memory.

Remove the screw under the memory (1 x M2.5 x 5mm).

Step 5

  • Remove the screw under the memory (1 x M2.5 x 5mm).
Remove the bottom screw covers.

Step 6

  • Remove the bottom screw covers.
  • Remove the bottom screws (8 x M2.5 x 5mm).

Turn the laptop over and open it up.

Step 7

  • Turn the laptop over and open it up.
  • Press the keyboard latches in and turn the keyboard over.
Unplug the keyboard cable.

Step 8

  • Unplug the keyboard cable.
  • Remove the keyboard.

Unplug the palmrest cables.

Step 9

  • Unplug the palmrest cables.
  • Remove the palmrest screws (4 x M2.5 x 5mm).
  • Unsnap the palmrest.

Remove the battery screws (2 x M2.5 x 5mm).

Step 10

  • Remove the battery screws (2 x M2.5 x 5mm).
  • Remove the battery.

Slide the hard drive down and remove it from the laptop.

Step 11

  • Slide the hard drive down and remove it from the laptop.
Unplug the antenna cables.

Step 12

  • Unplug the antenna cables.
  • Remove the screw (1 x M2 x 3mm).
  • Remove the wireless card.

Remove the screw (1 x M2 x 3mm).

Step 13

  • Remove the screw (1 x M2 x 3mm).
  • Remove the SSD card.
Remove the screw (1 x M2 x 3mm).Remove the SSD card.
Unplug the USB circuit board cable.

Step 14

  • Unplug the USB circuit board cable.
  • Unplug the display cable.

Remove the motherboard screw (1 x M2.5 x 5mm).

Step 15

  • Remove the motherboard screw (1 x M2.5 x 5mm).
  • Remove the motherboard.

Loosen the display cables.

Step 16

  • Loosen the display cables.
  • Remove the left hinge screws (2 x M2.5 x 5mm).
  • Remove the right hinge screws (2 x 2.5x2 wafer).
  • Remove the LCD display assembly.
Loosen the display cables.Remove the left hinge screws (2 x M2.5 x 5mm).Remove the right hinge screws (2 x 2.5x2 wafer).
Unsnap the bezel around the edges of the screen.

Step 17

  • Unsnap the bezel around the edges of the screen.
Remove the top screen screws (2 x M2 x 3mm).

Step 18

  • Remove the top screen screws (2 x M2 x 3mm).
  • Remove the bottom screen screws (2 x M2.5 x 5mm)(1 x 2.5x2 wafer).
Remove the top screen screws (2 x M2 x 3mm).Remove the bottom screen screws (2 x M2.5 x 5mm)(1 x 2.5x2 wafer).Remove the top screen screws (2 x M2 x 3mm).
Turn the screen over.

Step 19

  • Turn the screen over.
  • Unplug the LCD cable.
Unplug the web camera.

Step 20

  • Unplug the web camera.
