E61- Praying Mantis Wears 3D Glasses, Boomer, LIX Pen, DIY “Google Glass” | Red Headed Geek Show

Lets NOT talk about GOOGLE GLASS!! One of my favorite things to complain about and make fun of! If I am NOT complaining about Google Glass, the only other time I will talk about it is when I have some sort of interesting information. Today I do! If you've got a 3D printer, and a Raspberry Pi, then make your own computer you can mount on your face. Hey, at this point if you're gonna wear a computer on your face who cares if you look a little silly? At least it doesn't cost $1,500! This great DIY tutorial will show you just how to spend a weekend building some smart glasses!

Why would a Praying Mantis wear a pair of miniature sunglasses? A new research project at the Newcastle University Institute of Neuroscience is exploring how praying mantises process 3D vision in hopes of opening up the possibility of creating simpler algorithms for programming 3D vision into robots and computers.

And here is Boomer! He is a little robotic dinosaur that I really want! See the way he is reacting to the human? Its because those greenish-bluish eyes can see that man's hand. As you can hear he makes dinosaur noises.  Boomer is an incredible little gadget, he acts out some general emotions, and can sit and speak on command!

Finally, because I love 3D drawing pens, here is the latest one on the market! Remember the 3Dooler? The LIX pen is a lot like that. It is the smallest 3D pen to ever be made!  You just plug it in, it heats up and works a lot like a hot glue gun, but more fun! It dries instantly, and you can create pretty much anything!
