Things are looking up for LG tablets, which first got off to an uneasy start after launching the Optimus Pad tablet in 2011. Oh how things have changed since way back then. Monday, LG announced a new series of tablet, the G Pad 7.0, 8.0, and 10.1. The three Android tablets may resemble many of the features of the well-received second generation LG G Pad 8.3, LG’s current flagship announced last October. We can expect these devices to come with some standard LG features; such as “Knock Code”, which allows the user to unlock the device with a tapping pattern on the screen, as well as QPair 2.0, for pairing up communication features from phones to tablets. Many specifications have yet to be discussed because the company is waiting to make its official debut May 13th at the MedPI tradeshow in Monaco.

The LG G Pad 8.3, soon followed by the release of a Google Play Edition, were both very popular, both retailing for less than the iPad Mini with Retina Display; an attractive alternative for about $350. Because specifications and availability are TBA, we can only anticipate the trio to mimic the 8.3. This includes running Android 4.4, a 1.7GHz Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, and 16GB storage, with a 1920 x 1200 pixel display, and a 4,600mAh battery.

The new array fall into the most popular tablet sizes; 7-inches, 8-inches, and 10.1-inches to choose from. However, the 7-inch space is probably where the most current competition is, especially from lower-priced rivals. The series’ look is said to be reminiscent of another LG tablet, the Nexus 5, with their relatively broad bezels and nicely curved edges. The new series serves to show us that not only one size fits all. It is highly popular to launch tablets in a variety of sizes to increase customer satisfaction. LG CEO Jong-seok Park recently stated, “ Customers tell us that they want a wider range of devices that offer sizable screens without compromising portability”. So there you have it, LG designed these tablets with us in mind. Those that “prioritize portability while others want the best multimedia experience possible. G Pad delivers on all counts”. Press shots relay possible color choices, indicating the 7-inch will be blue, the 8-inch white (like the existing 8.3 G Pad), while the 10.1-inch will be black.
