Razer will be teaming up with new Android TV to unleash a new micro console that will stream games, TV, and entertainment into your living room. Razer, founded in San Diego, California, is a world leader in high-performance gaming PCs, laptops, and tablets. The gaming giant will be employing Google, who just revealed its new move in home entertainment with Android TV, by making a micro console much like Amazon's Fire TV, Ouya, and Apple TV. Like the popular Chromecast plug-in dongle, micro consoles are proving themselves to be the next big thing in living room recreation. They follow similar offerings in that they push content from your favorite devices to your television, and any Android phone can be used as a remote.

Android TV lets you stream music, television, and gives you the ability to game. Gaming is assumed to be a decent focus of Android TV. That is where Razer's designing skills come in. Announced today during Google's I/O conference in San Francisco, Razer CEO Ming-Liang Tan reported this as “a console of the future”. The console will support anything from hardcore to casual gaming, as well as other entertainment and social applications you may want on the big screen.

While the untitled console is expected to support Bluetooth, Razer has yet to disclose that information. Also unknown is the price, but Razer has repeatedly described it as “affordable”. Voice control is anticipated, which is guessed to work in conjunction with either a smartphone mic or possibly built into a custom gamepad. We can expect some interesting specs on the machine. Razer has 9 million active users registered on its platform, and is well known for “cramming high-end graphics capability into a small form factor”. Adding a strong gaming focus into an entertainment console is a great idea. No one likes being forced to spend a ton of money to stay current with new consoles and games. However, it's hard to picture exactly what gaming market it will hit, and what games it will support. I imagine it supporting something more exciting than Candy Crush, but could we expect it to run Grand Theft Auto? We are talking about Razer here, and don't forget it. Android TV will launch later this year, along with its next update, Android L. According to Market Watch, we can expect the Razer micro console as early as fall 2014.
