E67- Android TV, Razer, Androids, Apple | Red Headed Geek Show

Google had its I/O conference this week and told us about a lot of new stuff. Google I/O is its biggest event of the year, its like its own little E3 where developers meet and talk about how powerful Google is. They announced a lot of things, but something new is Android TV, a streaming service with an interface that looks a lot like Netflix and Playstation 4 apps. Android running devices can be used as a remote.

The best thing about Android TV? You can play games. In fact, soon after this announcement came Razer’s huge decision to build a rad micro console to work with Android TV, with a heavy emphasis on gaming.

Google also showed off its very own $20 virtual reality headset. Dubbed Cardboard, your Android phone running Jellybean or higher, turns into a virtual reality headset! The app works with head tracking via your phones accelerometers and gyroscopes, and comes with all this stuff for putting it together.

iWatch rumors are vague but do hint at a rectangular, round shape. What we do know is that Apple tends to launch its products during the fall. The iWatch should come around the time of the next iOS update, iOS 8, which is anticipated to support a lot of new health and fitness features.

Apple also will be releasing the new iPhone 6, we think this year, in two new, bigger sizes. Sources say different, but it is thought these new models will sport 4.7 and 5.5 inch displays. That 5.5 inch stacks up to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Isn’t it about time Apple releases a smartwatch and phones with bigger displays? They sure do take their time following trends.

There are some serious new robots in town. Well, they’re in Japan...but they are very human-looking! Because androids closely resemble humans in appearance and movement, they have been placed at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation in Japan where they WORK. They work as little helpers for the exhibition they are a part of called Android: What is human?
