Ritot, a Smartwatch That Uses Your Hand as a Projection Screen

RitotWatchIt looks like a fitness band and acts like smartwatch, but in a totally different way than you think. The Ritot watch gives a new twist to the smartwatch by using projection technology to show notifications on your hand instead of a watch face. Ritot is currently seeking crowdfunding for its Indiegogo campaign in hopes to begin full production. The evolution of the clock has continued for thousands of years. The company believes that the watch “demonstrates that humanity does not stand still”. Creating new technically innovative and fashionable watches shows our state of existence.

RitotWatch1The entire operation of the Ritot smartwatch is how it displays information. The pico projector, which displays time and notifications on the top of the hand, is perfectly safe for the skin. It works like any other smartwatch, by showing caller ID, texts, social media updates, reminders, and more but in high quality graphics onto your hand. It has a battery life of up to 150 hours in projection mode, and a month long life when in stand-by mode. There are 20 different color choices for displaying the information, which can be adjusted using Ritot's single touch sensitive button. Combatible with Android, iOS, and Windows, Ritot comes with a corresponding app for setting which notifications you want.

Messages stay locked on your hand for a duration of 10 seconds. The issue that comes up here is privacy. When a message comes up, it cannot be covered up until it fades away. On the other hand (pun intended), if you want to prompt the display, you can do so with by touching the button or even shaking the wrist. The watch is supposed to adjust for day or nighttime settings, yet the quality in bright daylight is unknown. Two versions, Bracelet and Sport, will be available for shipping by January or February 2015. Prices start at $120.
