New Smart Remote from Logitech Harmonizes Your Connected Home

LogitechRemoteThe Internet of Things (IoT) is changing the way we interact with our home, allowing everything to easily become connected via sensors and smartphone apps. From internet-connected blinds, smart coffee makers, and thermostats, the number of automated household items are growing rapidly. PC and tablet accessories provider, Logitech, is looking to give you a smarter, more automated home through the use of its Harmony Living Home line of universal remotes.

LogitechRemote1Wouldn't it be convenient to consolidate the way you control of all your smart devices by having just one remote? Logitech's new Harmony Living Home gives you that option, and comes in three package choices. Using the Harmony Home Hub ($100), you can turn your smartphone or tablet (iOS and Android) into a touchscreen remote control. The next level, the Harmony Home Control package ($150), provides a simple, one-button universal remote with your Home Hub. Finally, the Harmony Ultimate Home setup ($350) goes high-end, pairing the Home Hub with 2.4-inch color touchscreen display remote control.

LogitechRemote2The Harmony Line uses RF signals connected to your favorite smart coffee maker, for example, to send commands to your Hub using IR, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Many smart home creations work with Logitech's new line, including 270,000 devices already in Logitech's database; as well as products made by Honeywell, Lutron, Philips, Sonos, Nest, and SmartThings. The remotes, which can be used up to 30 feet away from the Hub, can also send more than one command at a time. One example from Wall Street Journal, dubbed the “Good Morning” combination, uses the set up to “open the blinds, start the coffee maker, and play your favorite streaming service through your living room speakers”. Now that sounds like a nice morning. All three package selections go on sale late September.
