Misfit’s New Smart Tracker, Flash, Has Everything for $50

MisfitSmartTrackerConsidered buying a fitness tracker for your wrist but don't know which one to choose? It's undeniable you’re not the only one. With a plethora (I love that word) of smarwatches out there today, it's hard to tell the difference between any of them. One important variable is price. It sure would be nice if one device could stand apart by being super affordable, while having all the same functions competitors have. Luckily, tech start-up Misfit wants to bring a low-cost option to the smartwatch market with Flash. Loaded with premium features for fitness and health, Flash could make a gain against smartwatch rivals like Apple, Samsung, Motorola, and LG; which usually cost two to three times the cost of Flash's $50 price tag.

MisfitSmartTracker1What can a $50 smartwatch do? I don't know about the others, but the Misfit Flash seems quite useful. A complete re-design of the company's last fitness tracker Shine, Flash is capable of being so cheap because it's engineered with lower-cost materials. No aluminum like the others, this guy is made of plastic so it is very lightweight. It is also water-resistant up to 30 meters, and runs for a year on a coin battery.

MisfitSmartTracker2Flash is essentially one big round neon button. Accessing all of your activities is done just by pressing the face, which turns into a bright red LED display. Just wirelessly sync your Flash to your iOS or Android smartphone to set up your preferences. Flash can differentiate between activities very well. From cycling, to running or swimming, you can track your progress, and time during each sport. It is also capable of tracking your sleeping habits, a function that has become essential to health and fitness technology. Flash will become available at Walmart, Best Buy, and Amazon this October, but can be pre-ordered from its website now.
