Mouse-Box: Shoving an Entire PC into a Mouse?

MouseBoxPc“If the smartphones in our pockets are exponentially smaller and more powerful than the laptops that use to break our backs, couldn't we squeeze a computer inside a mouse?”

Good point, Gizmodo. Whether or not there's a super relevant reason why someone should make a mouse a computer, doesn't mean someone shouldn't try and do it anyway. Leave it to a Polish hardware and software developer, who has created this prototype computer, called Mouse-Box.

MouseBoxPc1His name is Przemyslaw Strzelczyk, a software engineer for Nokia Networks, and his Mouse-Box prototype is a chunkier-sized mouse packed with a processor, more specifically a quad-core 1.4GHz ARM Cortex CPU, an HDMI connection and USB 3.0, 128 GB of flash storage, motion sensors, and Wi-Fi.

Now, why would such a device be useful? Well, all it needs is a battery pack, keyboard, and some sort of operating system; and since it already has its own HDMI port, all that would be left is to connect it to the display of your choosing. It also functions as a regular mouse with the switch of a button. Perfect for an on-the-go worker, or to launch a business presentation, Mouse-Box packs a punch in something so tiny.

MouseBoxPc2Referring back to the need for a battery, Strzelcyzk's group is currently working on a mouse pad that would double as a charging station. Additionally, it's rumored that the finished product could come installed with either ChromeOS or Linux (Gizmag). There is definitely a lot of work to be done before we ever see this device on the shelves. In fact, Mouse-Box is currently just a concept, and the company is hoping to find a good partner in order to start making a working demo. The Mouse-Box website has plenty of information about the idea, perhaps people will become interested and provide feedback for this tiny computer idea that may or may not come to fruition.
