3Doodler 2.0 Is Slimmer, Faster, and Back on Kickstarter

3Doodler2The 3Doodler was one of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns of 2013. It raised $2,000,000 after only pledging for $30,000, selling over 130,000 units. Its creator, WobbleWorks LLC., is currently having its second round of crowdfunding for its brand new 3Doodler 2.0! If you don't remember exactly, the 3Doodler is kind of like a pen mixed with a 3D printer (that's exactly what it is, actually). The device extrudes 3D printing filament, and as you draw or write, it dries instantaneously.

3Doodler2-1The latest version is completely redesigned. After unveiling at CES 2015, WobbleWorks is proud to show off the new slimmer, lighter 3Doodler that feels like a real pen. Now housed in a fancier-looking anodized aluminum, it only weighs 50 grams, and is 75% smaller than the original 3Doodler (Digital Wack). The skinner pen is easier to hold, and has a better grip.

3Doodler2-2There are a few internal changes as well, such as a new nozzle design, and a re-engineered drive system that provides better airflow for a smoother experience, and cleaner looking lines. With a new dual speed control for users who want the pen to extrude faster for certain projects. Surprisingly, it does this with just half the voltage that the original used. As for battery life, it actually comes with a new JetPack portable battery for drawing on-the-go for up to 3 hours (Cnet).

To no surprise, WobbleWorks has already surpassed its new $30,000 goal on Kickstarter. However, the company doesn't expect to churn out the millions it did before. Heck, it wouldn't need to. The popularity is already there. Anyone can create with the 3Doodler, but it's especially perfect for kids who want to churn out little drawings or knick knacks (12 years or older). Early bird pledges are only $50, and the first 100 pens will begin shipping within a month.
