OneBoard Pro+, an Android Keyboard That’s Also a Computer

OneBoardProIt seems the concept of hiding computers inside otherwise ordinary electronics is becoming popular. Just a few weeks back, we heard of a computer mouse that runs an entire operating system and functions like a real computer. We also can't forget about HDMI sticks like the Chromecast. These devices are disguised by their regularity, yet pack a surprising amount of function; however, a lot of them still need a working keyboard for navigation. What about fitting the computer capability inside of a keyboard?

That's what a company called Acooo, yes I spelled that right, wanted to achieve by creating the OneBoard Pro+. Rather than being another mechanical keyboard with a few bells, whistles, or backlit LED lights, OneBoard Pro+ has its own processor and runs Android. More specifically, it will run a quad-core Rockchip system-on-a-chip at 1.8GHz, come with 2GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage, SD card slot and USB for expansion (up to 32GB), Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.0 for connecting to your mouse or mobile devices (Geek).

OneBoardPro1Oh yeah, about that Android. KitKat 4.4 comes pre-installed, just hook up OneBoard Pro+ to a display and mouse, and go for it. It will act like a regular Android-powered computer. It also functions as a good mechanical keyboard option by simply hooking it up to a computer, and features some LED illumination as a prettiness perk. One thing, it's missing a number pad. Not sure why, but I guess some of us can deal.

Acooo started the manufacturing process, and is readying itself for shipment from various websites, including AliExpress and Banggood, for $299. Worth the price? Eh. Not when Geek.com reminds us how easy it would be to find a decent mechanical keyboard and an Android HDMI stick for the same experience, but far less money.
