Samsung’s Galaxy A7 Releases in India

SamsungGalaxyA7-1Wonder what Samsung has been up to? Well, among the purchase of mobile-pay to challenge Apple, building crazy Smart TVs that listen to us, and getting ready to launch the Galaxy S6, the Korean tech giant has been growing a sibling in its Galaxy A Series. Dubbed the Galaxy A7, it is the next flagship from Samsung after the A3 and A5 hit India last month. It's high-end build means business, and is considered the most expensive smartphone in its range. So, do the specs live up to the price?

Let's take a look. Well, for one, it's a phablet, so you've gotta be into that sort of thing. It sports a full-metal 6.3mm thick body, and that right there gives it a beautiful and sleek appearance. It's 5.5-inch screen has a full HD Super AMOLED display, so watching videos is fun with this high of a resolution.
Finally, the top is flat, and it wraps around on a curve with a lovely silver bevel. Yep, that means no tacky, leathery back cover design which Samsung previously gave a try.

SamsungGalaxyA7Using Qualcomm's new octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, including two quad-core A53 chips (clocked at 1.5GHz and 1GHz, respectively) to power the A7, it also comes with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, expandable to 64GB via microSD (Times of India). Of course, it also uses Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, and even Near Field Communication (NFC). It's cameras support 13 megapixels in the rear and 5 megapixels in the front.

There are technically two other versions of the A7, an LTE Cat 4 version or the HSPA+ version. Additionally, Samsung has not yet confirmed whether the A7 will support 4G in India. Putting aside its great design, resolution and spec list however, it's a little disappointing to hear that the A7 is only running Android 4.4.4. Most new Galaxy smartphones are updated with Android 5.0 Lollipop by now. Oh well. Oh yeah, you've also gotta be up for paying Rs 30,499 (about US $490)!
