Asus has been highly active lately. It’s been one laptop reveal after another for the tech company. In fact, last week was the declaration of three lovely new devices. This week, we’re just hearing about the a ZenBook, the UX410 (in either the UX410UA or UX410UQ), which is nice because it’s been a while. The ZenBook Series has been such a hit for Asus, and as one of the most thin and light notebooks out there, the latest design continues with all around sleek.
First of all, it’s being stated that the laptop’s 14-inch display “acts” as a 13.3-incher thanks to the super slim 6mm bezels on the left and right sides of the 1920 x 1080p display (which is completely normal for some laptop displays). However, Liliputing actually reports this might be an incorrect spec, and that Asus’s website might not be updated. Current photos of the device portray a 14-inch display, but with annotated text of a “13.3-inches” on multiple websites, therefore causing a bit of confusion as to which size is the correct one. As far as Asus’s website, it states “14-inch, FHD display”, so, we are just going to go with that.
Putting that aside, let’s think about the rest of this beauty. We've got a profile of just 18.95mm thin, a solid aluminum alloy body weighing 1.6kg, a spun-metal finish in “Zen-inspired” concentric circles, that covers the top, while the rest of the chassis is kept with a tough-brushed metal finish. Looking at it, all of these factors really give this thing the feeling of “brand new”. Internally, the UX410UA iteration relies on Intel HD 520 graphics, integrated with Intel’s Kaby Lake Core U processors (including i3 7100U, i5 7200U, and i7 7500U), a 500GB hard drive, a 1TB SATA HDD, and 128GB to 512GB of a SATA3 M.2 SSD. The UX410UQ features Nvidia graphics (“probably” the GTX 940MX GPU), but that’s the only difference in specifications there seems to be among the two options. Finally, there’s Windows 10 Pro included, Wireless AC, Bluetooth 4.1, and ports you will love- 2 USB 2.0s, 1 USB 3.0, 1 USB 3.1, 1 HDMI, card-reader, and a headphone/mic jack. The system is also chuggin along with a 3 cell 48W battery, yet I can’t quite find the life on it just yet.
There’s so many features on this thing it’s hard to even tell you everything without going on and on. But I will end on the extra features I find lovely. Asus decided to integrate “Eye Care Mode”, a feature picking up in the device world where emissions of blue light are reduced (in this case up to 30%), to keep your eyes protected. The Asus UX410 comes in either Quartz Grey or Rose Gold, other than simply loving their iterations on those popular colors, the way that circular aluminum just glares with “fancy” is just jaw-dropping. Finally, that 14-inch FHD display gives your eyes such a lovely advantage, because at a pixel density of 276ppi, every tiny detail- whether viewing photos, reading, editing text, or watching videos, is going to be sharp and oh-so clear! I haven’t seen one hint regarding the price of these ZenBooks, but since this is more of a reveal than anything, let’s let that one, and the battery life in question, go for right now.
